Franklin Crossroads Class Descriptions

Spring Session 2025  -  March 10- June 5, for Grades 3-6

MONDAY-THURSDAY BLOCK ONE (3-4 pm)

-ACADEMIC SUPPORT (GR 3-6): Need a quiet place to get your work done or get extra help with math, spelling or reading?  Adults are available to assist you with your assignments, help you find materials you need and get extra practice with math or reading.

-COMPUTER CLUB (GR 3-6): Do you need to practice your math, reading, and spelling skills? Computer Club is for you.  This class will give you a great review for testing using Freckle, Raz-Kids, Prodigy, and other academic games.

MONDAYS BLOCK TWO

-INDOOR/OUTDOOR GAMES (GR 3): This class will get us outside to get some fresh air and exercise with team games. When the weather is rainy, we will move our games inside to the gym.

-IMAGINE THAT CRAFTS (GR 4-6): Come enjoy being creative. Each project will be set to let you make choices of materials and colors. There is no stress, possibly a little mess, but lots of fun.

-MINECRAFT II (GR 4-6): In this class, you will get to be creative with this "sandbox video game”, building to construct anything you can imagine. The game includes exploration, gathering resources and interacting with other gamers in the group for teamwork. Come and craft with us!


TUESDAYS BLOCK TWO

-MINECRAFT I (GR 3): In this class, you will get to be creative with this "sandbox video game”, building to construct anything you can imagine. The game includes exploration, gathering resources and interacting with other gamers in the group for teamwork. Come and craft with us!

-HASTON LIBRARY BOOK CLUB (GR 3-6) (BLOCKS ONE & TWO): Come take a walk to the Haston Library, join the fun of reading Fairy tales, having a discussion, creating craft to go with our book and to take to the Homestead and make a local senior happy while also doing some journaling. Learn some history about our town library and more. Let’s read some Fairy Tale Books!

-MAGIC: THE GATHERING (GR 4-6):  Learn how to play this strategic card game and refine your deck building as you play. Cast spells and send creatures into battle against friends, in Magic: the Gathering. Use the elements in your deck to cast magic and summon creatures to your aid to defeat your opponent!

-SPRING CRAFTING (GR 4-6): In this class, you will be creating some unique arts and crafts that will include Spring, Easter, Summer crafts and much more. This fun class will not only give you a chance to create a weekly piece but also explore different types of materials you can work with. Let’s get busy crafting.


WEDNESDAYS BLOCK TWO

-CRAFTING WITH WOOD (GR 3): Come design fun wood projects. All projects will be designed with sharpie markers.

-INDOOR/OUTDOOR GAMES (GR 4-6): This class will get us outside to get some fresh air and exercise with team games. When the weather is rainy, we will move our games inside to the gym. 

-PHOTOGRAPHY (GR 4-6) (BLOCKS ONE AND TWO): This class will give you the opportunity to learn to use a digital camera and software to download and edit your photos. You will be taking pictures of interesting things in our area, community, and school with the help of our local photographer, Mr. Pratt. These photos will be displayed for all to enjoy.

-UNIQUE JEWELRY (GR 4-6): In this class you will be designing earrings, bracelets and a necklace out of unusual items. Create one-of-a-kind wearable art for yourself.    


THURSDAYS BLOCK TWO

-CONSTRUCTIVE WORKS (GR 3): Ready, Set, Let’s build and create. We will be building different things using a variety of materials. You will design your own creations in every class. Come and build some fun!

-COOKING WITH PASTA (GR 4-6) (BLOCKS ONE AND TWO): In this class, students will cook many different pasta recipes. Enjoy two hours learning about, preparing, cleaning, and eating the foods they have made.

-GAME SHUFFLE (GR 4-6): In this class, students will be able to rotate between board games, Wii- in the library, appropriate computer games - in the cafeteria, outdoor games, and fun activities - in the Gym/Outdoors. A great social time for students to spend with friends.

-DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS (GR 5-6) (BLOCKS ONE AND TWO): Join your friends on an adventure using the world’s most popular role-playing game. The players will help in guiding their characters through dangerous adventures, searching for treasures, battling deadly enemies, and even carrying out fearless rescues. Your journey is only limited by your imagination. This class has a limit of 6 participants.


SATURDAYS AT SWANTON REC 

-JUNIOR IRON CHEF (GR 5-6): With Miss Nicole’s guidance, students will work as a team to create and perfect a delicious and healthy recipe.  We’ll take the cooking skills we learn along the way to compete against other teams from across Vermont. See if your recipe will be good enough to add to school menus throughout the state! FEBRUARY 15 - MARCH 29, 10AM - 12PM, no transportation provided.
